Contact me for: The Communication Clinic of Connecticut has been in existence for 33 years. The clinic services children with speech and language difficulties between the ages of one year and 21 years. While the clinic is known for working with children on the Autism Spectrum, we also specialize in working with children who have been diagnosed with Childhood Speech Apraxia. In addition, we treat children who have been diagnosed with the following disabilities: Nonverbal Learning Disability, Receptive language disorder and/or Expressive language disorder, Semantic language disorder, and Down Syndrome. For the most part, we see children individually for therapy. However, when a child is ready, if an appropriate peer is available, we will place the child in a dyad. As it is our philosophy to address the whole child, when appropriate, we work on thinking skills and relatedness skills in addition to speech and language needs.
Dr. Schwartz has 30 years of experience working with children with language problems and in particular, with children who are on the Autistic Spectrum and/or have Speech Apraxia. She holds a Ph.D. in Speech, and a Masters in Communicative Disorder. She has been certified by the American Speech and Hearing Association and in Relationship Development Intervention®. Dr. Schwartz has taught at multiple universities on both the undergraduate and graduate levels in California, Connecticut and New York. She was the director of the Scottish Rite Institute for Childhood Aphasia in Los Angeles.
