Maureen Hackett



Contact me for: Attention-to-detail design development, maintenance, and management of urban spaces and parks. Services are customized to provide what the client and the site require and generally include the preparation of a master plan to first define how the site can best be developed. This includes amenities such as grading, soil restoration, masonry, fencing, pools, lighting and plant material. Implementation includes the preparation of working drawings and construction details. Careful oversight is provided throughout selection and installation of materials and recommendations are made to help ensure the longevity of the finished project.

Ms. Hackett has a degree in Horticultural Science and is a Registered Soil Scientist with the USDA, Soil Conservation Service.

She currently provides full service landscape design and installation for many corporate and private clients in the tri-state area.

Ms. Hackett’s public experience includes work at the Military Park Partnership, Central Park Conservancy, The New York Botanic Garden and Gracie Mansion. In 1995, Ms. Hackett became Director of Horticulture for the Bryant Park Corporation and the 34th Street Partnership (a business improvement district managed by the same group as BPC.) Through her direction, BPC the organizations have received awards from the National Arbor Day Foundation, Association for a Better New York, and The N.Y. Landmarks Conservancy. In October of 2000, Ms. Hackett received “The Brendan Gill Award for the Restoration of Herald and Greeley Square Parks” from the Municipal Arts Society of New York, an award instituted by Jacqueline Onassis in memory of Brendan Gill. “It is awarded annually to the creator of a work of art which best captures the energy, vigor, and verve of our incomparable city…” She has also received awards from the Federated Garden Clubs of America and the International Downtown Association.

Ms. Hackett is a member of Metro Horticultural Group, The Manhattan Institute, The Institute for Classical Architecture in America and the Municipal Arts Society of New York. Garden reviews and publications include heavy New York Times coverage, that in House and Garden, The New York Daily News, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Observer and more. She has appeared as a guest on Good Morning America, MSNBC, New York 1, Martha Stewart Living, and featured on Channel Thirteen’s “New York on the Clock”.

She has been a guest speaker and lecturer at The New York Botanic Garden, The Brooklyn Botanic Garden, The New York Horticulture Society,Suffolk County Community College,The Bronxville Adult School, and the NYC Bid Association.
