For the last twenty years Mariela has devoted her enormous energy to empowering Latino students, women and professionals to succeed in the United States.

She has authored several award-winning, best-selling books: Find Your Inner Red Shoes: Step Into Your Own Style of Success, The Latino Advantage in the Workplace and others.

In 2012 Mariela founded the Red Shoe Movement: Women Supporting Women for Career Success ( a women leadership platform fueled by a global grassroots movement.

She’s the founder and CEO of Latinos In College (, a non-profit organization and the first online/offline all-encompassing platform to help Latino students graduate from college.

Mariela is an international, sought-after speaker, who has presented at Procter & Gamble, Goldman Sachs, McDonald’s, the College Board, Harvard, Columbia University, Princeton, National Association for Bilingual Education, and the Conference Board, among many other companies, professional associations and universities.

She is a frequent media expert on education and success. She regularly appears on: CNN, Univision, Telemundo, ABC, NBC, NPR and many others.
