Dr. Eckerd is a licensed psychologist in practice since 1985. She specializes in working with individuals individuals dealing with cognitive rigidity, anxiety, and poor emotional control, social understanding or social skills. She trained extensively in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mind-body medicine/mindfulness, neuropsychological testing and EMDR both for children and adults, so she provides holistic insight into individualized needs and practical solutions. I

She serves on the Professional Board of Smart Kids with LD and as a resource for the CT Autism Resource Center, Asperger's Association of New England, Aspergers.com and aspergersyndrome.org and is a member of the attending faculty in psychiatry at Norwalk Hospital. She was appointed by the State Legislature to the CT Autism Spectrum Disorder Advisory Council. She created a social skills program as well as continuing education program for professionals.
