The VVMA provides continuing education programs and conferences, supports its members through mentoring programs, lobbies on behalf of the interests in the field of veterinary medicine and serves as an advocate and voice for the Virginia veterinary medicine community.

Keith de la Cruz, D.V.M., is the Secretary-Treasurer of the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association (VVMA) and a veterinarian at AtlasVet in Washington, D.C. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Maryland, College Park and graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. Dr. de la Cruz practiced near Milwaukee for two years before moving back to the District in 2004. He is a past president of the Northern Virginia Veterinary Medical Association, as well as a member of the DC Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. de la Cruz lives in Alexandria, Virginia, with his dog, Max, a rat terrier mix.
