Dr. Shana Maier is an associate professor of criminal justice and director of the Master’s in Criminal Justice program at Widener University. She is also the author of a new book due out June 2014 titled, Rape, Victims, and Investigations (Routledge).

At Widener University, Dr. Maier teaches Introduction to Criminal Justice; Criminal Law and Procedure; Domestic Violence; Ethics in the Criminal Justice System; Women and the Criminal Justice System; and Senior Research. She also teaches graduate courses on Ethics, Domestic Violence, and Women and the Law.

Dr. Maier’s research interests include violence against women; the treatment of victims by the criminal justice system and legal systems; the transformation of rape crisis centers; the experiences and struggles of rape victim advocates and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners; and experience of female judges.
