Betsy Keefer Smalley, co-author of the award-winning Telling the Truth to Your Adopted or Foster Child: Making Sense of the Past (2000) and Wounded Children, Healing Homes (2009), has 40 years of experience in child welfare, adoption placement, post adoption services, and training. She works presently as Foster Care and Adoption Training Manager for the Institute for Human Services in Columbus, Ohio and is a Senior Program Analyst with the North American Resource Center for Child Welfare. Betsy has created curricula for parallel support groups for post adoptive parents and their children as well as an extensive Preservice Training Curriculum for Foster, Adoptive, and Kinship Parents, used by several systems in the US, Ukraine, and Kyrgyzstan for foster and adoptive parents. She has also developed training for adoption and foster care workers used in several states in the US as well as Canada, Ukraine, and Kyrgyzstan. Betsy received a 2010 Adoption Activist Award from NACAC.
