Andrew R. Gilbert, M.D.



Andrew R. Gilbert, M.D. is a board certified child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist and Medical Director of the Hallowell Center in New York City. Dr. Gilbert practices both psychopharmacology and psychotherapy and each approach is individually tailored to meet the patient’s needs and build upon their strengths. Dr. Gilbert has training in cognitive-behavioral (CBT), family, and psychodynamic psychotherapy. He practices an integrative, strength-based approach to psychiatry, incorporating evidence-based treatment, knowledge from his extensive clinical training, and his broad experience working with patients and families. His overarching goal is to demystify psychiatry and make the experience more human and positive for patients and families. Dr. Gilbert is the recipient of numerous awards from leading psychiatry organizations/institutions, including the National Institutes of Mental Health (NIMH), the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ACNP), the Society of Biological Psychiatry (SOBP), and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP).
